Benefits of Chaga-Infused Coffee

Antioxidants

In response to stress and pollutants, our bodies produce what are called “free radicals”, unstable molecules which can damage cells and DNA in a process called “oxidation”. Chaga is very rich in antioxidants that protect your cells from the oxidative stress caused by free radicals.

Immunomodulator

Fungal polysaccharides, found in Chaga, have immunomodulating properties: they support balanced immune functioning. Not only do they support a sluggish immune system to ward off illness, they can also work to suppress the hyperactive immune functioning associated with inflammation and allergies.

Digestive Health

Research suggests that Chaga stimulates bile flow, which is important in the body’s processes for digesting fat. It has also been known to reduce inflammation in the digestive tract.

FAQs

What is Chaga?

Although it’s typically referred to as a mushroom, Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is actually a sclerotia—a hardened mass of fungal mycelium. As a parasitic fungus, Chaga primarily grows on birch trees in cold climates where it appears as a black, charcoal-like mass with a woody, orange interior.

What is Chaga-infused coffee?

Chaga-infused coffee is a blend of Chaga extract and ground coffee beans.  The result is a rich, robust medium-dark roast coffee that contains beneficial compounds, such as beta-glucans and prebiotics, that support immune and digestive health. To top it off, Chaga reduces the acidity of coffee and coffee-induced jitters thanks to its adaptogenic properties. Talk about a healthy morning boost!

Why wild-harvested Chaga?

Betulinic acid is responsible for much of Chaga’s antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. This compound is found in the bark of birch trees. Unlike mycelium cultivated Chaga, wild-harvested Chaga absorbs betulinic acid from the birch trunks it grows on. Learn more about the difference between wild-harvested and mycelium cultivated Chaga here.

How much coffee should I consume in a day?

It’s best to consume 1-2 cups of Chaga-infused coffee a day. We don’t recommend exceeding this amount on a daily basis. Speak with your healthcare practitioner about how Chaga may interact with any pre-existing conditions you may have or medications you may be taking.
